There are 2 ways to manage shifts:

1. Shifts Module

2. Employee Information Module

How to know which you are using:

The behavior of the system is to first check the employee information module before checking the shifts module. If the employee has been set to the shift ID 8amshift, the system will first check if there is an overriding configuration in the employee information module then the shifts module. If there is no override configuration found in the employee information, it automatically uses the shifts module to check the rules added.

Differences between using shifts module and employee information module:

Any changes made in the shifts module will change the behavior for all employees using it. If an override exists in the employee information, no changes will be made to the employee. If any changes are to be made for that specific employee, you will need to edit the override or delete it for the employee to follow the behavior found in the shift module.

Shifts Behavior:

The shift is built to check the shift range as the basic and any outside of the range is the OT. If an employee comes in late but has a 1 hour OT: 8:30 am to 18:30. This results in 30 minutes under time, 8 hours regular working hours, and an hour of OT.

This behavior is different if bypass shift rules is ticked in employee information. Bypass shift rule is basically a flexible time setting. Employee can come in and go out at any time. The system will first check the total number of hours worked before considering the excess as OT. If this is ticked, the previous sample becomes 8 hours regular working hours and 30 minutes OT.
